You explain that you have been experimenting with recording sound without any electronic equipment. So far you have only been able to record a single note, but it’s a start. You produce a small bottle and a whistle. You blow the whistle over the bottle and trap the sound with a coin over the top of it. No one of course believes you until on the command of the spectator you lift the coin and the whistle escapes from the bottle!
It’s a long time since Terry Burgess introduced this great trick from Hubert Roberts and it has been difficult to remake, but we think worth the effort. All the spectator sees is what is in the photograph. Needless to say that is not all there is to it.
